Midnight Madness Tournament Las Vegas

If you are into softball or even baseball, you might not want to miss the 23rd Annual Midnight Madness 1-Pitch Tournament at the Arroyo Grande Sports Complex, Russell Road Recreation Complex, Dos Escuelas Park on July 8 & 9, 2011 sponsored by the city of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. Adult softball teams from Utah, California, Arizona and even from our very own city of Henderson will battle it out on the softball field. You may be asking why this tournament is called the Midnight Madness tournament – well, games will be played as soon as the sun goes down, approximately 7:00 pm. Now, you can sit and enjoy the game in the cool Las Vegas evening weather and avoid the ever so famous Las Vegas desert sun afternoon scorcher. So, bring your friends, family and everyone you know to this excellent exhibition of sports because admission is absolutely free. Over 50 teams will compete against one another so that they may advance to the USSSA  (United States Specialty Sports Association Championships, which will be held in Orlando, Florida during the autumn season.

Each game will be played for half an hour and right after one another. In addition, from 7:00 pm  to 10:00 pm, there will be a home run hitting contest using bats provided by Miken and Easton Sports. The two players who have the most homeruns will be awarded by the Miken and Easton sports bat manufacturers. Moreover, all games will be played using bats from these providers – that means no personal bats will be allowed.

For those of you who are playing for one of these many teams this July, you might want to find a place to stay that is close to the softball field that is also conveniently located close to the Las Vegas Strip. These games are a great way to get some sun and enjoy friends and family. Sometimes, it is difficult to find something to do that can involve the entire family. As a family there’s only so much you can do in the city of Las Vegas, but that doesn’t mean that this is a non-family friendly type of town. It only means that you might have to get a bit creative  or simply take a look at the city’s calendar of upcoming events for both Clark County, the city of Las Vegas and Henderson. Showing up to these types of city functions is also a great way to show your support for the city of Henderson and Nevada in general. Your interest in the city’s projects and programs will be greatly appreciated. Remember, admission is free and you will also be able to witness some of the most talented softball teams in the West Coast.
